Is Google Wave "Complex"

Google wave is not complex

While I admit there are somethings that are different than email and other such tools, I don't feel that Google Wave is "complex" as is written in this article and others. I think that Google Wave is quite intuitive actually.

  • It seems easy to me to start a new wave, to add new collaborators, and to add messages to each wave.
  • I think it is simple to search for a wave, open it and read it. It's not hard to click on a user's icon and limit their access to a wave.
  • I love the spell and grammer checker in one, why hasn't anyone thought of that before?

I admit that there are several things that Google needs to do to finish Google Wave, but in my minds it is already a valuable tool. Perhaps it is just because I'm in the technology industry and that these things are intuitive to me, but Google Wave doesn't seem hard to me.

If you are on Google wave, go to this wave to reply.

  1. I do not consider Google Wave to be complex at all either. Some may consider Google Wave to be complex because they have trouble seeing what it is supposed to do as an application, and that may be where the trouble lies.

I do not see Google Wave as an application in the traditional sense, it is not email, or chat, or an editor, although it has elements of all of these things and much more.

Rather, in my view, Google Wave is a set of tools with no strictly defined purpose. As such, groups of users may use those tools to construct ad hoc applications when and where the need arises.

  2. Yeah, I agree. I see several potential usages. The purpose of Google Wave is different for different users. I do think, however, that I wouldn't mind if all of my email were sent to my Wave account; rather than have email and Google Wave, I think that I could do with just Wave.

Four cents would be appreciated. I'm taking up a collection.
